The Sound of Beirut - Marija Bralović

when I
closed my eyes
and let myself
feel something
I had long feared
I heard
the sound of trumpets
echoing through the streets of Beirut
whose sorrow
runs my blood
with incredible speed
and stops its flow
I realized
how powerful and big
the sound is
how pointless
would be
living without the sound
of creeks and forest
the chirping of all the birds
without the sound of free animals
joyful children
trumpets from Beirut
whose tone
mesmerizes
everyone the sound reaches
it would be pointless
to live
without being able
to hear someone's whisper
a touch to feel
and gaze
all those little oases

enormous
tremendous

human freedom
